Patti LaBelle is an American singer and actress and is regarded as the “Godmother of Soul”. She is known for her singles such as “Somebody Loves You Baby (You Know Who It Is)”, “Feels Like Another One”, and “When You’ve Been Blessed (Feels Like Heaven)”.
LaBelle was born Patricia Louise Holte on May 24, 1944. She started singing in her church choir at the age of 10. In 1960, while in high school, she joined a singing group, “The Ordettes” and released their first single “I Sold My Heart to the Junkman”. The group recorded success till 1976 when they broke up.
LaBelle started her solo career in 1977 with a self-titled debut album and by the 1980s was an acclaimed singer with hits like “Love, Need and Want You” and “If Only You Knew.” LaBelle also tried acting, featuring in television sitcoms like A Different World, and American Horror Story.
